Pizza is here!

PizzaPostcard

We’ve been putting the final touches to our pizza menu over the last month, and we are really thrilled to let you know that Pizza is now available at Bush Hall Dining Rooms! In the evenings only at the moment, but Tuesday to Saturday lunchtimes from next week (21st June).

Our fresh, Roman-style pizzas are stone baked, with an olive oil-enriched dough, which means that they’re full of flavour and as crisp as you like. They’re perfectly filling, but you won’t roll home feeling over-full afterwards!

We’ve got an amazing pizza chef, who grew up making pizza in Florence; he’s insisted that we hand-stretch our dough, and use only caputo ’00’ flour, which he tells us is the only flour to use for good pizzas.

As you’ll know, we recruited locals to join our ‘taste panel’, and we’ve used their input to create a menu that will appeal to all tastes – including a vegan pizza.

We’ll be using gorgeous ingredients, like San Marzano tomatoes, hand-torn burrata, spicy nduja sausage paste, friarello (wild Italian spinach), truffle oil and Parma ham, to really bring you an authentic and delicious flavour. We’ve also got a range of own-made flavoured oils, like chilli, lemon, rosemary and basil.

And we know how much kids love pizza, so all kids’ pizzas are £5.95 including a drink and a dessert. We’re planning to offer pizza parties in the future too, so watch this space.

We’ve all felt the lure of a pizza night at home too, so very soon we’ll be offering pizzas to take away as well as home delivery via Deliveroo.

We’re getting ready to launch our brand new pizza menu – bringing stone baked pizza to Uxbridge Road! And we want your input – we’re looking for local dedicated foodies to help us decide our pizza menu, and yes, that means getting to eat pizza for free. It’s a tough job but somebody’s gotta do it.

To get involved, just like & share one of our social posts. A lucky few will be handpicked to join us for a tasting session with our chefs in late May. Follow us on Twitter and Facebook to make sure you’re in with a chance…

Our Newest Look

We’ve re-vamped our Lower Dining Room, bringing a taste of our fantastic musical heritage over from Bush Hall by papering the walls with photos and posters from some of the amazing shows we’ve hosted over the years!

We’ll be adding to the walls as we go, so it’s always up-to-date and gorgeous, just like our menus…

New Year, New Menus

After a busy Christmas, our chefs could have been taking a well-earned break, but instead they’ve completely refreshed our lunch and evening menus!
At lunch, we’re celebrating the best ingredients the season can offer with a Halloumi, beetroot, puy lentil, blood orange & pomegranate salad, which is about as colourful a dish as you can wish for in this drab month!  And, because we’re craving comfort food and fresh flavours, a Pork, lemon and parmesan meatball linguine.

Meanwhile in the evenings, your favourites haven’t gone anywhere, but we’ve added some new hearty Winter dishes like Braised lamb rump with fondant potato, carrot puree, spinach & Gentleman’s Relish, and this gorgeous Fillet of seabass with leek, clam & barley risotto

All this, and we’ll be serving a different veggie pasta dish every day – because we love pasta and we love vegetarians!

We may be about to enjoy an ‘Indian summer’ (well for a couple of days at least) but there’s no doubt Autumn is on its way, and with it comes our eagerly-anticipated new menus. Our lunch menu has also had an Autumnal makeover, with a hearty Salt Beef on Sourdough sandwich (with pickles & horseradish mayo) and Salt & Chilli Squid with Wasabi Aioli, amongst others to choose from. All our sandwiches are now available to take away, and watch out for new ‘Family & Friends’ serves to be announced soon…

Second Anniversary Sipping

Prosecco Mojito

To celebrate our 2nd anniversary, come and sip on a special edition Prosecco Mojito with us for only £5 a glass. Cool and refreshing, it’s a perfect way to mark two wonderful years at BHDR.

And we think it’s only right to top up levels before the rumoured Prosecco shortage hits this Summer (as if we all needed an excuse) – you’ll find us at the bar…

A Treat for our Neighbours

Outside of Bush hall

Shepherd’s Bush is a fantastic area – we’re so lucky to be surrounded by such great neighbours, who have supported us since we opened back in 2013.

And that’s why, in April, we’re offering W12 residents 15% off their bill when you come for dinner with us.  With some new dishes on the menu, including Coffee seasoned pork tenderloin with pumpkin puree, savoy cabbage & chorizo arancini and a ‘Vegeree’ with quail’s egg, fennel & aubergine.

So whether you live or work in the Bush, all you need to do is come down after 6pm bringing something with your address on.  Spread the word, and we look forward to seeing you all very soon.

Feed the Kids for Free – UPDATED

BUSH_HALL_DINING_262

UPDATE: Bush Hall Dining Rooms will be closed on Easter Sunday, but open Good Friday, Saturday & Easter Monday

There’s so much to love about the Easter holidays – the kids deserve a break after a long and chilly term, the weather’s getting warmer, and there’s an eggsellent (ahem) excuse to eat our body weight in chocolate.

At BHDR, we know that Easter is also a great opportunity to get everyone together round the table, which is why on weekdays over the holidays, we’ll be feeding the kids for free! Meals from our fab kids’ menu are free as long as at least one grown-up is eating too. Featuring classics like Lemonade Battered Fish and Chips and Macaroni Cheese, there’s something for even the pickiest of junior eaters.

So bring the family down for a warm welcome and a delicious meal at Bush Hall Dining Rooms.

March Munches – Breakfasts and Lunches

The days are definitely getting longer, and we can’t think of a better way to celebrate the arrival of spring than a big weekday breakfast (or lunch if you can’t convince someone that a breakfast meeting is the most productive start to the day).

So we’ve introduced a great new menu for weekdays at BHDR – featuring all our favourite dishes, and starting at just £3! Our breakfast menu now features familiar favourites like Boiled Egg with Soldiers and Marmite (for those that like it), classics like Eggs Royale, and healthy options like Avocado, poached egg, baby spinach & salsa on sourdough.

BoiledEggSoldiers

The lunch menu is just as tempting, and it includes our famous Bloody Mary Mussels for just £6 among other hearty dishes, as well as salads, sandwiches and the risotto of the day. We think it’s an incredible bargain!

And at breakfast and tea time, you can grab a cup of our fabulous Nude Espresso coffee or tea and a pastry for just £3! We can’t think of a better excuse for a bit of self-indulgence.

What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve?

It’s got to be one of the hardest tasks of the festive season – along with getting the right gift for persnickety Auntie Jill – finding the perfect way to see in the new year.

We at Bush Hall Dining Rooms believe we have finally solved the problem – join us on December 31st for a delicious five course meal, including a welcome cocktail and a glass of champagne at Midnight. Then pop into Bush Hall for dancing until late with White Mischief West.

White Mischief

And if you want to continue the fun after Midnight, we highly recommend popping next door to Bush Hall, and seeing in the first few hours of 2015 with dancing at White Mischief West – which is once more hosting a New Year’s Eve ball at the chandelier-lit 1900s-era dance hall Bush Hall, the home of sold out and very popular bashes in 2012 and 2013.

Expect DJs and Dancing late into the night, with vintage-era swing, rock ’n’ roll & soul through to dancefloor favourites.

We’re taking bookings for dinner on New Year’s Eve, and while the kitchen will close at 10:30pm you can carry on drinking to see in the New Year with us, then you could even pop next door to White Mischief West at Bush Hall where you can catch DJs playing vintage tunes until 3am.

On New Year’s Day, we’ll be open from 10am so you can soothe your hangover with a Bush Hall Dining Rooms Breakfast and Bloody Mary’s (in fact, why not repeat that process until the 4th). Then we’ll close from 5th – 8th January so our lovely staff can recover from a very busy month at BHDR!

An award-winning week

It’s been a week of accolades at BHDR – with two really great prizes coming our way.

We’re just thrilled to have been named Best Restaurant for West London (Shepherd’s Bush) in Time Out’s Love London Awards (and our friends at Bush Hall were Locals’ Pick).

We went to a glitzy ceremony at Centrepoint last night to pick up our awards, but really we know that as it’s voted for by customers, it’s down to you that we won, so thank you!

TimeOutAwards

And excitingly, we’ve also been named the #1 Breakfast in West London, by The Resident Magazine. We know our Friends & Family Breakfasts are pretty damn good, so it’s nice to have that recognised in print!

Warming Drinking

Top mixologist Nick Strangeway has done us proud once again with some amazing seasonal additions to our cocktail menu.

They’re guaranteed to warm you up on a chilly day, and they join old favourites like The Twinkle and the Espresso Martini on our cocktail list.

APPLE POT

The Apple Pot (served hot in a teapot) is a perfect blend of Winter Pimms and apple juice. Our other apple-based addition is the Apple Stumble, which features a homemade apple and cinnamon syrup, and adds calvados, gin and cointreau for a drink that tastes like Autumn in a glass.

COCKLE WARMER

The Cockle Warmer is also based on delicious Winter Pimms, and adds cognac and maraschino liqueur for a cold-weather version of a Martini.

Old Fashioned

And we’re pleased to add some classic Autumn and Winter cocktails to our list – like the Old Fashioned (above) and The Dude (our tribute to The Big Lebowski’s White Russian drinker). They’re great for cosy catch ups in our new downstairs dining room, and warming up after a long Autumn walk.

Family and Friends Roast

Beautiful Beef

Beautiful Beef

If your family was anything like ours growing up, then Sundays meant one thing: the whole family, round the table, with a big joint of meat to be carved by a grown-up, and all the trimmings you could want.

But somehow, now we’re the ones who are doing the cooking and the carving, it never quite happens like that – even when we do get our act together to cook a roast, it’s never quite as good as we remember from the good old days (perhaps because we’ve done all the hard work) and there are just too many distractions at home.

Roasties!

Roasties!

Which is exactly the reason that we came up with our Family & Friends Roasts – it’s everything we remember from our childhood, without any of the effort: the joint of meat carved by the head of the table, and all the trimmings you could want (including some truly amazing gravy), to share among your group of six or more.

Yorkshire Puds

Yorkshire Puds

You can have a rib of beef, leg of lamb, loin of pork or a whole chicken for your table, and we’ll bring you a carving knife, so the head of the table can make sure everyone gets the bits they like.

It’s perfect if you’ve got family visiting, or if you want to get together with friends – just don’t forget to let us know 48 hours in advance so we can make sure we’ve got everything ready for you.

Who gets to carve?

Who gets to carve?

Our New Look

Now the nights are drawing in and there’s a bit of a chill in the air, it’s time to introduce our new look lower dining room – which we think is the perfect place to spend an Autumn night.

New Downstairs

It’s looking better than ever after its gorgeous paint job which, together with the anaglypta wallpaper, reminds us of a classic Edwardian gentleman’s club. Add the odd quirky candelabra and some amazing rock and roll memorabilia, and you’ve got a room that manages to be cool but cosy.

New Downstairs

Staying true to our roots at Bush Hall, we’ve taken the opportunity to frame some of our most treasured items of memorabilia from over a decade of live music performances – amazing signed posters from some of the top names to have graced the Bush Hall stage. Look out for a few other precious items too, such as our beautiful print of Great Little Place‘s ‘London Bucket List’, featuring Bush Hall as one of just 38 places every Londoner must visit before they even think about leaving this great city (as if we ever would).

In good company

In good company

edit1

We think it’s the ideal setting for an intimate dinner for two, or grab a booth and settle in for the evening with a group of friends to indulge in some major comfort food (and maybe a cocktail or two – it’s a chilly walk home after all).

Falling for our Autumn Menu

The evenings are drawing in, and there’s definitely a bit of a chill in the air, but we think our new Autumn menu is one of the few things that make saying goodbye to summer bearable!

We’ve kept some of your favourites, including our delicious salads, and comforting regulars like the cheeseburger, but added some brilliant new seasonal dishes.

Roast guineafowl supreme with sweet potato boulangère & green beans

Roast guineafowl supreme with sweet potato boulangère & green beans

It’s hard to choose favourites, but the Guineafowl Supreme with Sweet Potato Boulangère (above) has to be near the top of the list.

And there are some great warming dishes on the new menu, like Pot Roasted Pollock & Langoustine with Haricot & Butterbean, Saffron & Merguez Sausage and Honey Roast Bacon with Caramelised Apple & Mash.

We reckon that between the Autumn menu and the return of cosy jumpers, the cooler weather’s worth welcoming in.

1907676_248764208647524_2112787494264162399_nWe’ve all been there – you sleep through your alarm, you’ve run out of milk for your morning cuppa and someone’s had the last slice of toast – all you need is to miss the bus and your day is officially ruined.

But never fear, like your local superhero BHD is here with our brilliant new ‘Pick-Me-Up’: grab a croissant and a delicious Nude Espresso Coffee to go for just £3.50. Combining the necessary caffeine hit with one of our fabulous pastries, it’s seriously the only way to start the day!

Don’t worry, we’re open as usual for breakfast, lunch and dinner Tuesday to Saturday, and both breakfast and lunch on Sundays. By September, everyone will be rested and we’ll be back to usual opening hours ready for (eek) the build up to the festive season.

Summer, Sport and Strawberries on Acid

Summer in a Cup

So us Brits might well need something to life our spirits (and an alternative use for our big screen), but luckily we might have just the thing.

Think Summer, Strawberries and Cream and Sipsmith Summer Cup – from next week, Bush Hall Dining Rooms will be showing key Wimbledon matches on our screen in the lower dining room and serving up (sorry, couldn’t resist) a few food & drink specials, including ‘Strawberries on Acid’: strawberries, vodka, balsamic vinegar, black pepper & champagne.

We’ll be showing matches featuring tennis’ top players – including Andy Murray, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal – so keep your eyes on our Facebook & Twitter pages for which games we’re showing between 23rd June – 6th July.

So gather your friends, family or work colleagues, call us on 020 8749 0731 (letting us know you want to watch the game), and we’ll make sure you get a seat with a view and a table if you want to eat.   We can definitely see a few ‘long working lunches’ being booked…

Our Paper Anniversary

They say the first year is the trickiest in any relationship, so we’re incredibly grateful to all our customers for supporting us through the ‘honeymoon period’ and beyond.

This week we’re celebrating our first anniversary, the paper anniversary, and we’re renewing our original promise to bring traditional dining room values, good living and a warm welcome to Shepherd’s Bush.

It’s been a thrilling and nerve-wracking year, and we’ve really appreciated all the feedback, reviews and repeat custom we’ve had from everyone.

So to celebrate and say thank you, we’ve got a couple of gifts for our lovely customers:

Firstly, our new loyalty card – collect a chair around the table every time you come in and on your sixth visit we’ll give you something nice.

LoyaltyCard

  • Drink five coffees and have the sixth free
  • Come for breakfast or lunch five times, and your next main course is on us
  • Have dinner on five occasions, and on your sixth we’ll give you a carafe of house wine

Then over on Twitter, we’re giving away Bush Hall Group Memberships. In the spirit of lasting happiness, you could win one of 8 annual AAA memberships or even one of two VIP memberships – have a look at the incredible benefits then get tweeting to win!

So help us to celebrate our paper anniversary this week – either in person or online – and let us say thank you for what really has been a year to remember.

Footie, Food and Friends

Football and good eating have never really gone hand in hand (Delia Smith’s Norwich being a notable exception). In general, unless you’re a fan of pies and Bovril, you’re best off saving the food for after the full-time whistle.

But here at Bush Hall Dining Rooms, we’ve never been afraid to break the mould, so we’re getting ready for a brilliant World Cup that brings flair on the pitch, and skill in the kitchen together at last.

We’re going to be screening England’s World Cup matches on a big screen in the lower dining room, making BHDR the perfect alternative to the pub for communal viewing in a more family-friendly atmosphere.

Make your reservation on 020 8749 0731 (letting us know you want to watch the game), and we’ll make sure you get a seat with a view.  There will be a mixture of booths available to book for groups of 4-8, shared tables, Brazilian cocktails and beer – plus you can order sharing-style street food (handmade by our Brazilian chef Fernando) until 1030pm.

The first England game is on at 11pm on Saturday 14th June (v. Italy), so why not book in for a late dinner and get comfy before the game?  All very civilised, we think you’ll agree – let’s just hope we can expect the same from the boys on the pitch.
