Have a Butchers at This

We’ve been working with some fantastic suppliers from around the country over the last year, and we’ve been looking at ways to highlight their delicious produce. So here are our two new Farmer’s Market Boards for two to share – at £15, it’s the perfect light lunch, evening starter or just a nibble before a gig at Bush Hall.

Meet the Supplier: Macken Brothers

Kieran the Butcher

Kieran the Butcher (don’t worry, it’s not actually on his head)

We thought it might be nice to introduce you to some of our suppliers, who keep us stocked up with the delicious food, drink and equipment that enable us to open our doors every day and put breakfast, lunch & dinner on the table for the good people of West London.

So making a memorable start is Kieran the Butcher, from Macken Brothers…

Based just down the road in Turnham Green, family-run Macken Brothers provide us with all our high-quality, naturally-fed meat.

Our beef is purebred Aberdeen Angus from the Scottish Highlands, fed with a natural diet free and hung for a minimum of 14-40 days to ensure the meat is tender, rich and full of flavor.

Our Gloucester Old Spot pork is outdoor-reared, enjoying a natural free-range life, and all our poultry comes from ethical farms, ranging from free-range to corn fed.

Finally, our lamb is seasonal, so depending on the season our lamb comes from Shetland, the West Country and Wales as well as Salt Marsh from farms in the East and special breeds from the Berkshire Downs.

If you’re local, it’s worth paying Macken Brothers a visit – your Sunday Roasts will never be the same again…

Home-Smoked Mackerel, Somerset Cider Mussels and One Tasty Fool

May we introduce you to a few new additions to our evening menu…don’t worry, your favourites are still available, there are just a few new faces in town to give them a run for their money…

For starters, our rope-grown Shetland Mussels will now be accompanied by a flavoursome Somerset cider, bacon and parsley sauce (as well as chips or bread).  A classic Potted Shrimp – served with sodabread and cornichons – joins the menu, plus Pork Belly with pan-fried Scallops and a creamy Cauliflower Purée.

Home-smoked Mackerel (smoked with jasmine tea and juniper) Potato & Watercress Salad and Slow-cooked Confit Duck Salad with Orange, Lentils, Capers and Mint can both be ordered as as either a starter or main size portion.  Add a side order of Pink Fir Apple Potatoes if you’re feeling extra hungry.

As a result of an dispute about the place of pancakes on our menu, boozy Crêpes Suzette won through to fulfil Head Chef Tim‘s love of the strong stuff. Finally, Strawberry Cheesecake in a glass with Honeycomb Biscuit and a Gooseberry and Elderflower Fool complete the new line-up – the latter of which is according to Sous Chef Hassan just “fabulous” (ok, dahling).

All this talk of food is making us hungry – come and join us tonight to try out the new menu and let us know what you think.
